Lopaka Ho‘opi‘i

A graduate of the Kamehameha Schools, Lopaka Ho’opi’i was born and raised in Kalihi. He began singing since childhood and continues to be involved in music. Lopaka has been a recording artist since 1980 and is a writer, composer and publisher, registered with BMI. He enjoys all styles of music with a focus on Hawaiian, falsetto and contemporary music. In 1997, Lopaka was the “KCCN Pride of the Islands” male vocalist winner. His musical career has taken him to Japan numerously, New Zealand, and on cruise lines. He has shared the stage with The Brothers Cazimero, Kapena, Pure Heart, Kawai Cockett, Danny Kaleikini, Nina Keali’iwahamana, Tierra, and Toby Beau. He is a musician for Halau O Na Pua Kukui, Kumu Hula Ed Collier. He continues to make music with the group Loea. In 1999, they released a CD, “E Hua.” Lopaka is a founding member of the non-profit group Pacific Music Foundation and the group Ho’omalie, releasing the CD, “Only You” in 2006. Lopaka is a fire fighter with the Honolulu Fire Department (20 years) and plays music for HFD’s musical group, Ahi Wela. He has been married to his wife Jenn for 20 years and they have been blessed with five children. He is humbled and grateful to forge a new legacy with the talented men of…..“Kapala!”
